Ralph Silvis Painting

A native of Chicago, Ralph received a scholarship to the Art Institute of Chicago when he was in the eighth grade. He also took tuition lessons for a brief time but gave up on art when in high school and did not return til retirement. He then began studying under James Werline at Southern State Community College.

Ralph has led a varied life. He was an Air Force pilot in World War II, then a physicist, high school teacher, building contractor, and clergyman. An avid sailor, he sailed his 36 foot home-built boat on the Great Lakes for many years.

The father of seven children, he and Dorothy, his wife of 60 years, live in the Sardinia area.
